History

OUR STORY GOES BACK TO 1903

Hersapuu’s roots are in Herralan Saha, which was built on the site in 1961, although the company had begun operations elsewhere as early as in 1903.

Over the course of its 115-year history, the company grew into a significant expert operator, which exported 95% of its timber to Europe and Asia. In its production, the company invested in the latest technology, such as machine vision.

The company’s operations came to a dramatic end when its sawmill and sorting facilities were destroyed in a fire on 23 May 2017.

Subsequently, a decision was made not to rebuild a conventional sawmill but to utilise the property, buildings and machines for the processing of bio-based materials in a different way.

Herralan Saha Ltd changed its name to Hersapuu Ltd in summer 2022.
